About Paracas National Reserve
In the Paracas National Reserve you can visit the beaches that are located there, the most popular are: Red beach, La Mina beach and El Raspón beach.
Red beach, it is called this way because the sand has a reddish color due to the mixture of the clay that comes from the earth’s crust (product of the volcanic activity that took place in this area thousands of years ago) and the minerals of the sand of the beach. The Red beach does not have an entrance and exit schedule so you can visit it whenever you want. You cannot swim or camp on this beach because its waters are not calm.
Playa El Raspón is my favorite of the beaches in the Paracas Reserve because it is the best preserved and has less travelers, although it is a little smaller than La Mina beach. Camping is not allowed at El Raspón beach and its entrance hours are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please note that at the entrance you will be asked to show the entrance ticket to the Paracas National Reserve. In this beach you will also find free toilets.
Playa la Mina, is one of the most popular beaches and very frequented by travelers (since the tourist agencies always take them there) this beach has an impressive clear emerald color and its waters are calm unlike El Raspón beach, although a little cold.
It is called “La Mina” because around the beach you can find rocky cavities that were formerly coal mines. Camping is not allowed in La Mina beach and its entrance hours are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Please note that at the entrance you will be asked for the entrance ticket to the Paracas National Reserve. In this beach you will also find free restrooms.
Important: La Mina beach does not have access for people with limited capacity since it only has concrete stairs to access it.
What is the best season to visit the Paracas National Reserve?
The best season to visit the Paracas National Reserve is between the months of December and March because the waters are warm and the heat is delicious but intense. For those who prefer less travelers, but still want to enjoy the good season, I suggest visiting the Reserve in September until the beginning of December.
