What type of ticket should I choose to visit the Machu Picchu Citadel?

If you are not sure what type of entrance ticket to choose to visit Machu Picchu and want a better explanation of the places you will visit along the way, here is the information you will need to choose the best ticket according to your interests. Remember that there are 5 types of entrance to visit Machu Picchu. Here is the information:

1.- Entrance by Llaqta Machu Picchu (Circuit 1, 2, 3 or 4)

This entrance offers you 4 circuits, in a few words, you have to decide for one of these circuits when entering the Machu Picchu Citadel, but the 2 most requested by travelers are circuits 1 and 2, because in these circuits you can take the classic or cover photo.

The entrance hours for this entrance are: from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm . The tour can last approximately 2 hours, depending on your physical endurance and the time it takes you to take pictures or videos.

2.- Wayna Picchu Mountain Ticket + Circuit 4

With this ticket you can visit the Citadel of Machu Picchu and climb Huayna Picchu Mountain, the most popular of all the mountains of the Citadel.

On the way to reach this mountain you will find steep, winding, narrow paths and steep stairs, so it is NOT recommended for travelers with reduced mobility, older adults or people who have vertigo . Only children over 12 years old can do this route.

At Huayna Pichu Mountain, you will see the following structures:

The tour can take approximately 6 hours, depending on your physical endurance and the time it takes you to take pictures or videos. The entrance hours for this entrance are: from 6:00 am to 9:00 am.

Tip: this is one of the most popular entrances, so I recommend you to book 2 or 3 months in advance.

3.- Huchuy Picchu Mountain Entrance Ticket + Circuit 4

With this ticket you can visit the citadel of Machu Picchu and climb Huchuy Picchu Mountain, which is located next to Huayna Picchu. The route to Huchuy Picchu Mountain is very short, about 1 km, so its difficulty is also less than Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu.

The entrance hours for this entrance are: from 6:00 am to 1:00 pm . The tour can last approximately 4 hours, depending on your physical endurance and the time it takes you to take pictures or videos. It is worth mentioning that with this ticket you will not be able to take the classic or postcard photo.

4.- Entrance by Machu Picchu Mountain + Circuit 3

With this ticket you can visit the citadel of Machu Picchu and climb the Machu Picchu Mountain, the highest of the citadel and reason why the citadel is named after it.

To enter the mountain you will first have to register and then walk for almost 2 km to the first viewpoint, in total there are 3 viewpoints and then you get to the top of the mountain.

The Machu Picchu mountain is higher than theHuayna Picchu mountain , but the Machu Picchu mountain area is safer, that is to say, less steep, winding routes and abysses, so it is suitable for everyone.

The journey up and down the Machu Picchu mountain takes approximately 4 hours. It is recommended for travelers in good physical condition .
Afterwards, you go back down the same route to the main entrance of the citadel where Circuit 3 will begin, that is why it is said that this route you will have the privilege of accessing the Citadel twice. In this circuit you will have the classic photo or postcard photo.

It is worth mentioning that with this entrance you will not be able to take the classic or postcard photo.

5.- Entrance Llacta Machu Picchu (Circuit 1 or 2) + Inca Bridge

This ticket offers you 2 circuits, in a few words, you have to decide for circuit 1 or circuit 2 at the moment of entering the Machu Picchu Citadel. With both circuits you can take the classic or cover photo.

Also in this ticket you will have the view of the Inca Bridge, for an additional 20 minutes. Be careful, you can not cross the bridge, you can only see it from a distance and for this we suggest you bring binoculars. To get to the Inca Bridge you have to register your entrance and exit.

This route is suitable for everyone (children, adults and seniors).

The tour can last from 3 to 4 hours approximately, depending on your physical endurance and the time it takes you to take pictures or videos.
