How to get your tickets for the Machu Picchu Citadel?
In order to enter the Machu Picchu Citadel you need to have tickets. In this blog we will give you all the information you need to make a successful purchase according to your preferences. To get your tickets you have 3 options, here I show them to you:
1.- Buy tickets online
This is very simple, you go to the official website of Machu Picchu Picchu https://www.machupicchu.gob.pe/. For example, for foreigners it is the option: “General Rate”, for Peruvians or from CAN countries (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru) it is the option: “Promotional Rate”.
Suggestion: Buy your tickets 1 or 2 months in advance.
Important: You must choose 1 of the 5 tickets offered to access the Citadel of Machu Picchu, in other words, you will have 5 different ways to visit the Citadel . Click here to learn more about which type of ticket suits you according to your preference.
2.- Buying tickets in Cusco City and Aguas Calientes
In the city of Cusco or in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo) you can find official points of sale, where you can buy your tickets.
Tip: Buy your tickets as soon as you step on Cusco soil because tickets sell out quickly, ideally you should buy your tickets 1 or 2 months in advance, since some schedules are sold out quickly. Remember that you must buy your tickets with your physical ID, in the case of foreigners, with the physical passport. Below I leave the points of sale.

Normally tourist agencies offer you 2 ways to purchase your tickets to the Machu Picchu Citadel.
The first way: the agencies are in charge of purchasing the entrance for you (only the entrance fee) and the second way: to purchase an ALL INCLUSIVE tour, so the tourist agency is in charge of making all the reservations regarding transportation, entrance to Machu Picchu and the tour guide.
Suggestion: verify the type of entrance that they offer you since it usually happens that some agencies only have 1 type of entrance and that is the only one they offer to the travelers, if this is indistinct for you then there is no problem, but if it is important for you the type of entrance you get, agree and verify it with the travel agency of your choice.
